Duration: Approximately 16 months of structured knowledge, practical and workplace components during which training, practical experience, logbook record keeping from the workplace and a written external integrated summative assessment (EISA) will lead to a full qualification.

This programme is developed to prepare the learner to operate successfully as a Freight Handler within the transport sector. A freight handler receives, allocates, stores, picks, reconciles and dispatches freight through a storage facility.

What can learners expect?

On completion of this qualification learners can expect to be able to:

  • Demonstrate receiving of freight.
  • Demonstrate allocation of freight for storage and control of stock.
  • Prepare and ensure the picking of freight for loading/off-loading processes according to specified procedures.
  • Reconcile and dispatch freight according to the legislation.
Admission Requirements
Prospective learners should be competent in:
• A qualification on NQF Level 2
