This module introduces the student to the strategic analytical tools and information systems required for the management of intelligent transport and logistics systems. The student should be able to apply these tools to the planning, modelling and control of transport systems. The module aims to equip the student with the intellectual knowledge and applied competence in the development of public transport policy and traffic systems that enhance sustainable transport.
What You Will Learn (Learning Outcomes)
Upon completion of this module, students will be able to apply quantitative analysis, GIS, GPS, and intelligent transport systems to transport and logistics planning. They will analyse public transport systems, assess performance, and apply travel and land-use forecasting techniques. Students will understand traffic engineering roles and develop data collection procedures to support evidence-based transport planning. They will also evaluate environmental issues and promote sustainable practices in transport and logistics operations.
